Dover is one of the foremost venues on the south coast of Britain for Angling, with a wide variety of fish being landed such as Cod, Plaice, Huss (dog-fish), Pouting, Mackerel and Bass to name but a few! Angling venues cover the Prince of Wales Pier, the Admiralty Pier, and the Southern Breakwater, which is only accessed by boat. Dover Sea Angling Association hosts many Fixtures and Events, such as the popular 3-day Pier Festival, with occasional free entertainment at the DSAA Clubhouse, as well as exciting Live Music and ‘Dance & Dine’ Events at their Bluebirds Restaurant. Angling has been a constant, staple source of communal spirit in Dover, with the DSAA being established in 1903.
The Prince of Wales Pier is the family-friendly preference for Anglers young and old. A café is available at the end of the Pier and is open most days (including weekends), supplying a wide range of hot and cold food and drinks.
The Admiralty Pier is managed by the DSAA with stewards on-hand every day. Offering excellent sport, the pier offers two fishing areas; the shore end as far as “The Turret” which is mid way, and the Pier Extension, where many of the larger fish are landed. As there are strong tides running at times, good tackle is recommended at all times.
The Dover Southern Breakwater is only accessible by boat and provides 213 excellent fishing spaces, both inside and outside of the Harbour. The Dover Sea Angling Association has launched a new boat service, available every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, from the 1st September, 2012, departing from the Dumphead on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 08.00 hours, and returning at 15.30.
